5 Pokey Homemade Aphrodisiac Tea Recipes – Add with Caution!

By Robin C Mac

Updated:

There are aphrodisiac’s found in food store’s, and then there are the more powerful aphrodisiacs alive in nature, that will truly elevate the male sexual psyche.

Oysters (zinc), sparrow grass (asparagine) or dark chocolate (phenylethylamine and serotonin) are great for boosting semen production and simulating your state of mind, but you’ve probably never said to yourself: “Cor, I can feel that asparagus kicking in”.

Not to pooh pooh garlic butter spears or a luscious creamy fudge cake, there are some ingredients that are a bit pokier when it comes to male pleasuring.

5 Powerful Homemade Aphrodisiac Tea Recipes

1. Pine pollen

Pine pollen is the bees knees when it comes to natural potent aphrodisiacs and as a homemade aphrodisiac tea goes, it’s perhaps the mother of all libido stimulating teas.

It can also heal wounds, prevent gum disease, enhance whole body-function, protect the liver, reduce blood fat, and improve immunity.

A powerful androgenic, vitamin and mineral, pine pollen tinctures can be quite potent so caution is advised.

You can of course brew up your own pine pollen tea, but first it’s useful to know how to harvest, store and use pine pollen.

Here’s a helpful vid if you don’t know how, or you can purchase some pine pollen in supplement form.

How to make pine pollen tea

If a pine tree is ready to shed its pollen, it will release a mild yellow dusting.

You can shake this from the younger male pine cones which are slimmer than the fatter females. Collect ones that have fallen or are still on their branches (but don’t remove), by gathering them in a plastic bag and shaking them.

Older, browner, more unfurled cones will have released most of their pollen.

If you’re in the aphrodisiac making business for the long haul and would like to conger up a tincture, then you can gather the pollen in a jar and mix it with vodka or an alcohol of your choosing, and let it ferment in a cool dark place for 4 weeks.

You’ll then have a beautiful, dark piney scented aphrodisiac syrup.

What you’ll need

  • few grams of pine pollen or some pollenating male pine cones
  • plastic bag/container
  • a sieve if filtering the pollen powder
  • weighing scales
  • empty tea bag/steeping pot

Pine pollen tea recipe

  1. Let’s assume you just have some male pine cones that are sprinkling some yellow pollen grains when you shake them. Place as many as you can in a plastic bag or container and shake them around until the pollen has built up.
  2. On a sieve designed for finer particles, sprinkle out the remnants from the shake-up, to filter out any debris.
  3. You now have your pine pollen. Keep it sealed in an airtight container.
Pine pollen is best used in the first 3 days but you can freeze it or vacuum seal it.
  4. Don’t consume more more than 1.5g for safe measure.
Steep in a bag in a pot of boiling water for 3 minutes as you would Gynostemma leaves.

Be aware that some people have allergies to pine pollen.

2. Tongkat Ali

Like maca and ginseng, tongkat ali is a another root touted for its many health qualities, but its aphrodisiac dimension makes it special.

To go about extracting tongkat ali from the root itself, you’ll need to be fluent in isolating bioactive compounds using either ethanol or water, so we’ll skip the chemistry lesson, but advice is out there.

It’s a bitter taste so tongat ali will complement most shakes and smoothies.

3. Maca root

Maca root gets the thumbs up in a 2023 reddit survey, by a largish portion of aphrodisiac enthusiasts.

There are a variety of different coloured maca roots, which after some trial and error, you may find are more beneficial than others. Black and purple seem to hit the spot, although yellow gets the thumbs up too.

Maca may however dampen your mood and make you a little tired, have zero effect, or deliver you a rock hard boner – results will vary.

Some take maca root powder with citrulline (an amino acid) and/or tongkat ali for a double whammy effect.

As natural libido enhancers go, a homemade aphrodisiac tea sourced from maca’s worth a shot.

If you live in the Andes in central Peru, then you’ll be able to harvest your own Maca root from the wild, but otherwise unless you’re cultivating it yourself, you’ll need to buy some.

You don’t necessarily need all these ingredients, but they do make a fine maca tea recipe should you follow it to a tee. Here’s the magic vid on YT or simply follow the steps below.

  2. You can then grind it into powder form using either a food processor – aka Magi-mix or coffee blender.
  3.  Now in your teapot which you are about to boil on the hob, add all the ingredients or what you have except the maca, and then pour in the water.
  4. Add one teaspoon of maca powder, stir it and allow it to infuse for 5 minutes.
  5. Now pop it on the hob and bring it close to boil but not quite.
  6. You may want to filter out the bits and bobs after, so a sieve will come in handy.

Maca powder can be added to other juices and dietary drinks should you prefer.

4. Fenugreek seed

After an 8 week trial on 600mg a day, a Pubmed publication showed that women with a low sex drive who took Fenugreek, significantly increased their arousal and sexual desire levels – compared to the placebo group.

However due to it’s influence on your sex hormones, Fenugreek is best avoided when undergoing certain hormone treatments.

Fenugreek is found in South East Asian dishes and may compliment zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) in your libido-boosting diet.

A Washington Post article back in 2011, revealed that “ram’s horn clover” – Fenugreek’s actual meaning, contains compounds called saponins inside its seed, that are believed to stimulate sex hormone production.
